Karis Truly is Our Joy

Karis sat up today! At 6 months and 2 days. She decided to sit up a few hours after her 6 month check up where we reported to the doc that she was not sitting up yet. The doc wasn't worried and said Karis is perfect. We agree. She weighs 15 lbs. 6 oz. and is in the 50th percentile for height and weight. She's a textbook baby for sure!

Last Monday as I returned back to work full time, Ryan was laid off. It's been an emotional transition for all of us. But a continual theme in our house right now is that Karis truly is our Joy. When you walk into the room and say hello to her, she lights up and smiles from ear to ear. I've never seen a baby smile so much. It's hard to get swallowed by the sadness and stress when she is in the room with you. She makes all of us feel so happy and joy-filled. She's been good medicine for us and has helped me to keep things in perspective. It's amazing that a baby who can't talk can teach you so much about life. Her purpose is being realized as she lifts our spirits through this tough time.

And a special note to my Keelyn Skye. You were a very special baby too and you've been an even more amazing little girl. You are teaching us love, patience, and what it means to look after your family as you care for your baby sister and show compassion for us when we have heavy hearts.
